Types of Warts on Children
Warts are a skin condition and can occur on any part of your skin. For the children this condition is predominantly found on the face, palms, back of hands, fingers and the sole of the feet. The flat warts which are a type of warts that are smaller and smoother than the other types are mostly found on children’s faces. Warts are the result of a skin growth condition and therefore you expect these to also affect children. The most vulnerable age is between 12 and 16 years and the skin warts are most prevalent.
Ways of removing the warts in children
Generally these warts can be removed using medication or they can also be eliminated by using certain home remedies. Using home remedies involves the use of the duct tape that you carefully strap over the wart. However this may be a good approach only when the wart has not spread out over a large area. Therefore while it is still localized you can take a duct tape and cover the wart.
This should be left over for six days and possibly it will trigger a natural body defence reaction that will begin to fight the wart. This is one of the easier ways of containing the wart from spreading. However it may not be very suitable for a child who does not understand the science behind it which leads to the need to use other methods. The other likely option in this case would be the use of medication.
Using medication to remove warts in children
Because of the limitation that comes with a home remedy approach such as the one described above, and based on the resistive nature of warts, meaning they take a very long time to remove, using warts remover medication may be the other option and especially in children. However prior to using this kind of approach you must consult a dermatologist who will ascertain the kind of warts and then prescribe what type of medication.
Generally because of the different strains of warts, it may necessary to use different medication to try and remove the warts among children. It may also be necessary to assess the likely effect the medication may have on the skin of the child and hence the choices must be made wisely.
It will also be good to understand that warts are accelerated by a weakened immune system and hence the need to give your children a well balanced diet at all times. Furthermore you need to note that warts are contagious and can be passed on from one child to the other through contact. Hence after you identify the child with such a condition precaution must be taken to ensure he or she is isolated during the time she or he is getting the treatment.
Warts may also be removed surgically although this can be very expensive and thus is not the first treatment choice for many. And surgery shouldn’t be required in the first place if you can just stick the whatever treatment option you’ve chosen for the kid.
