Earlobe Wart
Warts are generally dark colored, stiff extensions protruding from the skin, which are normally painless. They are caused due to the HPV (Human Papillomavirus) which attack the immune system for working its way out. They are generally harmless, but sometimes with time they can grow deep, and connect with the blood vessels on the skin; making it dangerous to remove. It may cause a little bit of itching or hurting, but mostly the embarrassment it allows is unbearable. Wart is an extremely contagious disease, which can also spread through sex.
Earlobes are the most common area to be affected by warts. A type of wart, known as the Seborrheic Wart or a Senile Wart, can take the ear under its effect. If you find a growth on your ear lobe, immediately consult a doctor or a dermatologist to make sure it is not cancer.
How can you identify Earlobe Warts?
The external part of the ear, especially the earlobe can develop epithelial tumors. This is sometimes classified as a wart; however, the technical term is seborrhea keratosis or seborrhea wart. The warts on earlobe are usually flat and are light brown in color. It grows on skin cells and the growth process is humongous. However, there are some other skin extensions, which may resemble warts like atheromas and granuloma fissatarums.
The exact cause of earlobe warts is still unknown but they are very common in older people. Genetics is also responsible for this as the symptoms can run in families. Conditions where too much of UV rays is absorbed by the skin can also trigger occurrence of warts. Getting near HPV affected person can also be a major cause. Another possible risk factor for earlobe warts is high levels of estrogen.
Diagnosis
As with any other skin condition, any thing, which grows out of your skin, may appear as as cancer. However, to gain surety you have to go to a dermatologist, who will distinguish between the cancerous growth and the seborrhea keratosis, but for that you may need to go under biopsy or get it examined under the microscope for further analysis.
Common treatment methods for earlobe warts
There are several ways by which you can get rid of the earlobe warts. The cryosurgery method allows liquid nitrogen to be applied on the affected area that freezes the warts growth. The wart then falls of after few days. Another most used treatment method is the electrocautery and curettage, when the warts are burned using electrocution. Then burned area is then removed with a sharp knife.
If the size of warts is smaller then few treatment methods can be followed several times in a week. The home remedies include, soaking warts in warm water, which thin outs the wart layer, thus, helping in easier removal. Salicylic acid is also used a lot while treating for the earlobe warts. The mixture normally contains 17% salicylic acid with water. Come people even apply duct tape to the affected area for prolong period until the wart soften, making it easier to cut off.
