Differences Between Herpes & Warts
As you may be aware, there are a number of different sexually transmitted diseases in the world. While most people understand the differences between HIV and most other STDs, some don’t know the difference between herpes and warts. Aside from being caused by two different pathogens, you will find that each disease takes a different course over the person’s lifetime.
Basic Symptoms of Herpes
Individuals infected with the Herpes Simplex virus will usually find blisters on their s from time to time. Even if these blisters do not itch, they can be fairly painful. Most sores will go away within one to two weeks. Depending on your immune system health, a new outbreak of blisters may not occur for years on end. That said, if you are stressed out, or your immune system becomes weakened for some other reason, then you might notice new blisters developing.
Aside from infections that may appear and clear up over the years, individuals with herpes may suffer from a number of health problems as they enter their senior years. This includes bone disorders, increasing instances of herpes outbreaks, nerve damage, and increased levels of pain. Unfortunately, those who also become infected with HIV, or wind up with suppressed immune systems for some other reason will experience end stage herpes symptoms regardless of physical age.
Wart Symptoms
Unlike herpes, wart infections are caused by the Human Papilloma Virus or HPV.Even though clusters of warts may form a cauliflower shape, they will not have a water blister component. In addition, most warts will not go away on their own. Perhaps it can be said that weakened immune response represents the only common symptom associated with both diseases. Unfortunately, if you are infected with both viruses, you might wind up with simultaneous outbreaks.
As you may be aware, almost all cervical cancers are caused by HPV. Researchers are also finding that a number of malignancies in the head, neck, and mouth may also be caused by this virus. Unfortunately, even if you do not have an outbreak of physically visible warts, simply being a carrier of this virus may still lead to tumor development later in life.
While warts and herpes are fairly common STDs, they have long term health consequences. At the very least, if you aren’t sure which one you have, observing lesion types will make it a bit easier. Regardless of which virus you came into contact with, you should do what you can to keep your immune system as strong as possible.
